Type

Movement

How to do it

  1. Kneel and hold the wheel with straight arms under your shoulders.
  2. Brace your abs and glutes and tuck your pelvis slightly.
  3. Roll forward slowly as far as you can without arching your back.
  4. Pull back with your abs to the start.

Form cues

  • Your lower back never sags.
  • Start with short rolls and extend gradually.
  • A wall in front limits your range while you learn.

Common mistakes

  • Arching as you roll out: the classic cause of lower-back pain with the wheel.
  • Returning by bending at the hips first: your abs should pull you back.
  • Going too far too soon: progress gradually.

Sets and reps

3 sets of 6-12 reps with 60-90 seconds of rest.
